Granule is built to keep your financial life private. There are no user accounts, and the information you enter is stored on your own device. We don't collect it, we can't see it, and we have nothing to sell. This policy explains exactly what that means.
1. Information stored on your device
Everything you record in Granule is held in local storage on your device, under your control. This includes:
- Financial records you enter, transactions, accounts, balances, budgets, goals, loans, subscriptions, assets, and any notes or tags.
- App settings and preferences, such as your chosen currency, language, theme, and display options.
This information is not transmitted to us. It stays on your device unless you choose to export or back it up yourself. If you delete the app, the data stored inside the app is removed with it. Note that if you have turned on automatic backup, your backup files are saved to your device's documents folder and will survive uninstalling the app; to remove those as well, locate and delete the backup files in your documents folder. We recommend keeping a backup if you wish to preserve your records.
2. When Granule uses the internet
Granule reaches the internet in only two situations, and neither involves uploading your financial records:
a. Exchange rates and asset prices
To value multi-currency accounts and assets such as cryptocurrency and precious metals, Granule requests current rates from a third-party rate provider. These requests ask for public market data (for example, the price of a currency or asset). They do not include your balances, holdings, or any personal financial data.
b. Subscription verification
If you purchase a Granule subscription, the app uses RevenueCat together with the Apple App Store or Google Play to process and verify that purchase. This is how the app confirms you are entitled to paid features. Payment itself is handled by Apple or Google under their own terms; Granule never sees or stores your card details. RevenueCat and the app stores may process a purchase identifier and basic, non-financial subscription information to manage entitlements. Please refer to the privacy policies of RevenueCat, Apple, and Google for how they handle that data.
3. What we do not do
- We do not collect, store, or have access to the financial information you enter.
- We do not require an account, your name, your email address, or a phone number to use the app.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers, and Granule does not display third-party ads.
- We do not run analytics that send your financial records to us.
4. App store and platform data
When you download Granule, the Apple App Store or Google Play may collect information about the download and your device under their own policies. Likewise, if you allow notifications (for example, daily budget reminders or loan due-date alerts), those are generated and scheduled on your device by the operating system. These platform interactions are governed by Apple's and Google's privacy policies.
5. Children
Granule is intended for general audiences managing their personal finances and is not directed at children. Because the app does not collect personal information, we do not knowingly gather data from anyone, including children.
6. Your control over your data
Because your data lives on your device, you control it directly. You can edit or delete records at any time within the app, create your own backups, and remove the app's data by deleting the app. If you have automatic backup turned on, remember that those backup files are kept in your device's documents folder and remain after uninstalling; delete them there if you want every copy gone. We cannot access or delete your records on your behalf, because they are never in our possession.
7. Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we will revise the date at the top and publish the new version at Privacy Policy. Material changes will be reflected in an updated app release where appropriate.
